Photo shoot I did with my musician sister, Bethany, and a taste of the branding I’ve started for her. Hopefully I can get a website up and running for her in the near future.
I recently decided to try my hand at linocutting. I really enjoyed it and definitely want to incorporate into my projects more in the future.
Some black and whites of my time abroad.
Our final project in Digital Modeling….design and model a character! I’m not really sure where the inspiration for this guy came from. But it was pretty exciting to go from sketch, to model, to print. 3D printing is crazy. I’m still working on painting him, so I don’t really have a better picture of the printed model yet.
Here’s a brief re-cap of the Digital Modeling class I took last semester. It was a struggle. Hopefully I’ll get better at this, but I’m pretty alright with the results.
This was our concluding project to Illustration Studio last semester. The assignment was to create an “origins story” (aka, “where did ____ come from?”) and illustrate it. Our limit was eight pages (plus a cover page and author bio). I wrote a story about what happened to woolly mammoths–which I linked to the beginning of elephants. Basically, the world was simply getting too hot for mammoths to bear having such long fur, so they learned how to shave.
I really enjoyed making a variety of patterns for the illustrations. For each spread I had a page tiled with a pattern paired with an image. I decided to stick with a simple palette of warm colors.
Our studio professor actually compiled all of our stories into one book, which is pretty awesome. I never actually bought myself a copy…
My friend Lauren asked me to design a t-shirt/logo for her World Race fundraiser (a family fun 5K).
Ideations for covers for an Agatha Christie series. I experimented with a few styles/techniques, but I think the hand-type covers with black and white photos is the most effective.
